Shifting Market and Foxton's Real Estate

If you are not in the metropolitan New York area or New Jersey you may not have heard of Foxton's Realty.  For many of us their entry into the real estate in this area was our first with discounters.  They advertised 2% full service, took listings which they then tried to sell on their own without putting the listing on the MLS and made an agreement with their sellers that after a certain amount of time, if they couldn't sell the seller would agree to 3% and they would put it out on the MLS.  One 800 number to call and one file - no agent involvment.  It was truly an unpleasant experience.  Each question was asked of  someone else at the 800 number.  Have you ever tried to negotiate with whoever answers the phone?  Well I just came across an article and apparently they have closed up shop in the mid-Hudson area of New York.  They are the company that Jason Sehorn was involved with.  They called 30 agents and staff in on Saturday and told them all that this was the last day.  They will continue to service whatever listings they have but will no longer take new listings.  The agents at Foxton's are all given cars with Foxton's painted all them, so transportation home after the announcement was arranged and they had to leave their cars.

Would it be improper to say that I am glad.  They were impossible to deal with.
